The Fly Over of Patriotism

As I was watching the fly over of the jets this morning at the parade in Delta, Utah, I couldn't help but feel a great admiration for those who serve in the military. There is so much controversy that surrounds the current war (which will not be discussed here) and yet we still have people who are willing to basically give there lives over to something that they believe in. I salute and thank those who do serve in the armed forces and national guards. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their patriotism. We owe a lot to those who came before them and laid down their lives to make and keep us free. Our world is marred in politics and it is sometimes messy and confusing...but we are free.
I also wanted to share my belief that God has helped make this country what it is...the good parts, not the bad. I understand the argument for separation of church and state, but it is impossible to take religion out of the people who run the government and we should not try. Religion, for the most part, fosters morals that help guide those who make the decisions in this country. I also have the strong belief that this country was founded on religious principles and as such we should not take the name of God out of everything pertaining to government. No one really should be offended by "In God We Trust" on our money. Why would anyone get mad that the Ten Commandments are outside of a courthouse, since they describe a moral code that most of the population ascribes to? I agree that a specific religion should not rule the government, but religion in general should not be shunned from it. God Bless America!
We live in a great country no matter what you believe. I hope that your heart swells with pride to think of what has been done for us and that brave people are still doing today.
