Dreams are a subject that has been on my mind a lot recently. I have begun reading "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho to my new daughter in Spanish. This is by far my favorite book and I recommend it to everyone. I think this is one book that everyone should have in their homes. If money is short, go get it from the library. READ this book!!!!! Read the whole book, prologues, preface and all. It can change your life...it did mine.
The story centers around a boy named Santiago who is a shepherd in Spain and has a dream one night of a treasure that is buried at the pyramids in Egypt. He doesn't think anything of it till he meets a man who knows of his dream and tells him that it is his Personal Legend to go find this treasure. A Personal Legend tells what a person is supposed to accomplish in their life. Santiago makes the decision to leave his flock and travel through Africa to reach his dream. Along the way he learns to listen both to the voice inside of him and the voices of everything around him. He also learns about the Soul of the World and how to reach it. Along the way he meets Fatima, a girl who realizes that Santiago must attain his dream. In the end, Santiago learns the importance of giving everything for your dreams and following through to the end.
I can not say more that this book is amazing. It will reach into your soul and reveal your dreams and help you start on the path to get them. Dreams are so important. Having something to live for is what makes us wake up every day. It's what drives us. They can push us to accomplish awesome things.
